При переводе на английский язык можно столкнуться с проблемой перевода слова “маркировка”, ведь она может переводиться как “marking” или “labeling/labelling” (обратите внимание на написание британского варианта с удвоенной “l”).

В соответствии с данным источником, описывающим требования к перевозке продуктов химического характера, на упаковке должны быть представлены и то и другое, при этом отмечается что:

  • marking – mainly refers to UN number, proper shipping names, UN specification marks and other markings if applicable(i.e. orientation arrows, environmental hazardous substances mark for UN 3077 and UN 3082 and excepted quantities mark);
  • labe(l)ling – mainly means hazard symbols (and handling labels) displayed on small means of packages (usually less than 450 liters).

Nature and type of marking

… Marking may be by chemical identity, common name, trade name, code name or number or other name, so long as the identity so established is unique and, in the case of a hazardous chemical, is identical to that used on the label and the chemical safety data sheet. Nature and type of labe(l)ling

The purpose of the label is to give essential information on:

(a) the classification of the chemical;

(b) its hazards;

(c) the precautions to be observed.

The information to be given on the label, including as appropriate:

  1. trade names;
  2. identity of the chemical;
  3. name, address and telephone number of the supplier;
  4. hazard symbols;
  5. nature of the special risks associated with the use of the chemical;
  6. safety precautions;
  7. identification of the batch;
  8. the statement that a chemical safety data sheet giving additional information is available from the employer;
  9. the classification assigned under the system established by the competent authority;

(b) the legibility, durability and size of the label;

ТАКИМ ОБРАЗОМ:

MARKING – отгрузочные наименования, указания по ориентации коробки, опасности содержимого и т. д.

LABEL(L)ING – более подробная вещь, более уникальна и включает в себя торговые наименования, данные о поставщике, номер серии и т. д.
